The Block 811 occurrence is located in the head waters of De Mamiel Creek, approximately 6.5 kilometres north west of Sooke.

The area is underlain by greatly sheared amygdaloidal pillow lavas of the Eocene Metchosin Volcanics, which are cut by two irregular gabbro dykes related to the coeval Sooke Gabbro.

There are extensive areas of pyrite and pyrrhotite, and locally chalcopyrite mineralization.

In the 1960‘s, the area was explored by Mascan Explorations.
